The Tower

A dark tower lay upon the world

On the flattest plain it did disdain to a part of its mould

Scantily lit from natural light as if bathing in gold

Seen from distances never conceived by any human mind, what madness held itself inside its heart?

Boats would pass by the land, fingers would point, and the rudder would turn, for they knew the tower and all the fright which echoed in its birth

Whomever looked upon its cast was immediately left with a feeling, chilling to the bone. They would take it from that place and have it live inside their mind…forever

On still waters you will find the tower submerged so deep; yet still the turret shows itself from the strange creep

When the world forgot the tower, it was put out of sight, until many years later on a very stormy night

What makes us human, I believe is becoming to be stamped out. Words are so important, both spoken and on the page. Words make up the most powerful elements of our humanity. So, I'm feeling supersonic, why me why not? SF
